Yoga: a Hindu “theistic” (belief in at least one god or many gods) philosophy teaching the suppression of all activity of body, mind, and will in order that the self may realize its distinction from them and attain liberation through bodily positions designed to worship Hindu gods.
A High Place: A high place was a localized or regional worship center dedicated to a god or many gods. Worship at these local shrines often included making sacrifices, burning incense, and holding feasts or festivals (1 Kgs 3:2–3; 12:32). Some of these high places contained altars, graven images, and shrines (1 Kgs 13:1–5; 14:23; 2 Kgs 17:29; 18:4; 23:13–14). The Canaanites, Israel’s enemy who worshiped Baal (the Devil) as their chief deity, also used them.
Israel believed they could not only worship Yahweh, but also worship additional gods simultaneously. Why? Complacency brought on by demonic forces.
The message…there are plenty of other ways to exercise or stretch…don’t be lazy and don’t be fooled. In many instances The Way is the turning away from things in order to turn to Him. Turning your back on things that your mind and body “love” and “adore”. Christian, you are always protected by the blood of Christ, but this does not mean you are immune to backsliding. If you don’t believe your backsliding, check your pride. I know it sounds harsh, but it’s the truth.
